There are no photos of Thomas as a kitten. He did not come to live with us until he was about a year and a half. In the winter of 1995, I kept hearing a cat crying in our backyard. But it was difficult to see anything because we were having a terrible snowstorm. Finally, one day, I saw a small cat and brought him some food. He came running and devoured the food. At that time he did have a collar on, so I attached
a note to it. The person who the cat "sort of" lived with called me. I finally learned the name of this poor neglected cat. At least, I felt he was neglected. He was always trying to get into our house. He drank from mud puddles. He almost swallowed the food whole when I fed him. Then I noticed he was not even neutered! No one cared enough to have this done.
Tiger and Thomas got along very well and many nights Thomas stayed over. We had no choice but to let him stay!! There was no way I could get him to go outside. Not after spending a nice warm night in the house with plenty of food. And a playmate.
Thomas eventually became ours. It's a long story, so I will skip over it. We took him in to be neutered. There was a problem and he started hemmorraging the evening we brought him home. He needed surgery and much care. And lots of love.
Anthony is always saying it is a good thing Thomas ended up in our home. We found out he has asthma. Thomas needs medication, every day. He would not have gotten this care if he was not living with us. He is so good about taking his pills twice a day. When it is time, Thomas comes to let me know. Then he goes into the kitchen and lays down in position. No problem popping those pills into his mouth. He is such a good cat and
so gentle.
My boys love to run around and play fight together. And we love watching them. Tiger was lonely until Thomas came to live with us.
We are now seeing a new vet. She has taken Thomas off the Prednisone, which can be damaging. Thomas now takes inhalers! I use an infant mask with a spacer. He has the albuterol inhaler and one called Flovent. Since Thomas has been on this new medication, he is no longer having "episodes". So they are working! He is so good about it. When it is time, Thomas comes looking for me, and we have a special spot. We get on the rug and Thomas curls up next to my leg. He purrs the whole time he is getting his inhalers.
