Monkie Even though we love our 2 boys very much,
I still think of and miss one very special cat who was in my life for
17 years. When I moved to Rhode Island in 1973 and got my first
apartment, I was only 19 years old and very lonely. In February of
the next year, I found an ad for free kittens and knew right away
that was what I needed. So I called, got directions and walked over
to the house with the free kittens. As soon as I walked in the door,
one small kitten walked up to me and it was love at first sight......
for both of us. She was a beautiful tortoise-shell. At least, the vet
told me that later. I didn't know about types and breeds of cats,
even though I had been raised with many. I just knew she was
beautiful to me and we were good to and for each other. She was all
different shades of browns and tans, and could jump so high for a
such a small kitten, so I named her Monkie.
I know Monkie is waiting for me over the
Rainbow Bridge. Monkie I know Monkie is in Heaven because she was a good girl and my loyal friend.

Seventeen years is a long time to be together. Quite a few
relationships between humans do not last that length of time.
Monkie was a one-person cat and she was very affectionate with me.
She always slept next to me and had one paw touching me at all times.
